Another Cutecast port. I was drawn to this theme by the cool use of the accent colors against the black. Really happy with the way Jim managed to pull it all off.

Another forum system Jim and I like is Cutecast. While I’ll readily admit Phorum is far superior in its functionality, Cutecast has the strong point of being flat-file based. That means that if you do not have access to a MySQL database or prefer not to use one, you can still run a high-quality forum. Cutecast is CGI/Perl based too, for those who prefers that language. Cutecast has some very nice templates, one of which was Chess. This is not a direct port of that template, but it’s close. I think the grays in this theme look very classy.

When playing around with different color schemes, I threw together one that I thought looked like a watermelon. My problem was that I realized people might like the theme better with a green background, which made it look like a honeydew melon. For fun, I tried to do a cantaloupe using an orange background. I liked them all so much, and since they worked together, I decided to do a joint them. This theme features 3 different CSS files so the admin can choose which “melon” they like best. The perfect template for summertime!

As noted, the installation contains 3 separate style files. Simply upload (and rename) the style you like. If you want all three available to switch between, you will need to upload three separate template installations.

I thought of doing a few video game templates, aside from the WoW one, but I am not really that up on what is the hottest game. So, I thought I would do a few generic ones that could easily be modified by an admin for a game site. This is one of them…and one of my favorite templates.

Just one of my favorite color combinations. We wanted to do a series of Phorum templates which were very simple color combinations. This would allow admins who are not CSS savvy to have a pick of color schemes to use on their websites. I know personally when designing websites I have found a great forum or blog theme and built a whole website around the colors.

So many of my designs are inspired by the great open-source graphics out there. Many times I will say to myself, “I want to do a blue template” or “I want to do an aquatic theme” and then start searching. I had already done many blue themes and wasn’t planning on another one, but this great graphic just begged to be made into a Phorum template! Jim just loves the name of this template.

I never really use holiday templates, but I know many people do. Since the next holiday coming up at the time of this writing is U.S. Independence Day, I thought it appropriate to do a stars-and-stripe theme. Just a little musing, we have 2 children born on the 4th of July. They aren’t twins, but were born 3 years apart. Neat, eh?

Retro is making a comeback, and deservedly so. We love the retro look, so we wanted to create a template that would embody it in a modern setting. Yes, this is a bold template, but sometimes that is just what you are looking for.

This template as a variation on the Bitmap World template. We wanted to do a template that incorporated that design but did not feature a sidebar that ran the whole length of the page. The purple header graphic became the base for the color-scheme. Though the template features a range of purples, it was named Violet after out youngest daughter.

I’m not even sure where I got this open-source background. When I saw it, I knew I wanted to use it in a design and the Phorum project seemed to be the right place. I love the color scheme on this.
